Client: Historic Co-ownership & Heritage Architects
Duration: 2 days on-site operation

⚠️ Technical Challenge
Project Context & Challenge
The historic building in downtown Compiègne showed significant accumulation of black crusts from urban pollution and soot. Classic methods (sandblasting or hydroblasting) were forbidden as soft limestone risked losing its natural patina and becoming porous.
⚡ Raynovation Laser Technical Solution
Applied Laser Stripping Method
Gentle laser ablation using low pulsed energy. The beam is preferentially absorbed by dark pollution crusts, which detach instantly as micro-dust sucked at the source. The underlying clear limestone reflects the laser light and remains intact.
Measured Results
Complete preservation of original patina and carved moldings.
Dry site operation without water projection or mud on public areas.
Zero abrasive dust in the neighborhood.
Full compliance with French National Heritage guidelines.
“A remarkable result preserving the history of the building. The laser cleaned the finest carvings without altering a single millimeter of stone.
